Midnight Swim, No One Around

I asked for the keys to the ladder down from my villa deck at Cheval Blanc Randheli.
They didn’t ask why.
The lagoon was black glass, only the overwater lights drawing a quiet line.
I slid in slow, no splash, just that warm salt on the skin.
Back on the deck, the island was silent like it was holding its breath.
