Exploring the places most people avoid.
I went to Fort Siloso thinking “tourist spot lah”… bro I was WRONG.
You walk in from Siloso Point, sun still up, kids laughing somewhere behind you… then the tunnel air hits. Damp. Metallic. Like old coins + wet concrete.
I did the stupid thing: went alone into the darker corridor where the lights flicker a bit (maybe normal… maybe not). My footsteps got this echo like someone walking half a second behind me. I stopped. The echo didn’t. I swear.
There’s this narrow bunker-like room near the old gun positions—walls sweating, paint bubbling. I put my palm on the concrete and it felt cold-cold, like it’s been holding breath for decades.
Outside, the sea is bright. Inside, it’s like the island is pretending to be a beach while hiding a war throat.
If you’re doing this, go late afternoon so it transitions into dusk. And bring cash for the small stuff—water around S$2–4, and if you end up at the beach after to calm down, a quick bite/drink can hit S$10–25 easy.
Also… anyone else hear the “extra step” in that tunnel or am I just overthinking it? Dare you to try and tell me 😐
