The Island That Watches Back

I’m standing at Signal Hill, Kota Kinabalu… and the sea feels too quiet.
Out there is Gaya Island, black silhouette like it’s just… staring.
A local uncle muttered “don’t call out names at night there” then walked off like he said too much.
I tried to zoom in—my phone kept hunting focus like something was moving in the trees.
Wind hit my ear and I swear it sounded like a soft “shhh”… yeah nope.
